For those looking for Surf City events, there are hundreds of surfing contests and surf-themed events throughout the seasons. Surfers travel the globe to compete in bigger contests in something called a World Qualifying Series. They are not bound to one Surf City or surf set. When you take into account that California surfers are part of the global waver of surfing talent, you see that Surf City can be found in other places such as Australia, where there are many world class surfers, great competitions, and the surfing spirit that has consumed California beaches.

In California there are surfing events that range from Coldwater Classics to the US Open of Surfing, but even at the grade school and high school level there are non-profit organizations that promote competition with scholastics as a backdrop and certain school grades a requirement for surfing.
