Bolsa is a Spanish word meaning table. In California, you'll find plenty of bolsas along the beach in the areas of usually flat, elevated land or plateaus that site above the sea be several feet or hundreds of feet.

One such bolsa where there is some excellent surfing offshore is the Bolsa Chica, (little table.) The area, Bolsa Chica State Beach,  is operated by the California State Parks and Beaches. There's some decent surfing at this beach which faces Catalina Island. It is located near the northern border of Orange County.
